Girija Shanker, a Senior Journalist and Political Analyst for last 5 decades. He covered execution of Capital Punishment in Central Jail, Raipur at the mere age of 25 years, and later authored Book “Aakhon Dekhi Phansi” based on this reporting. Statesman National Award was bestowed to him for Rural Reporting in 1982. He is an expert participate on election and contemporary politics for varias national and regional news channels. He is known as “Encyclopedia of Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh” and written a book focusing election in Madhya Pradesh. He is regularly writing columns on contemporary issues for various newspapers and participating in news channel debates.. Since 1993, he is working as Freelance Journalist. “Shehardar Shehar” and “Akhbar ke Panne” are two titles wriiten by him. He is editor of book of Kailash Joshi former Chief Minister based on his speeches in state assembly. He directed many plays and actively involved in theatre before joining active journalism. He attented workshops on theatre in 1973 in Raipur organised by late Shri. Habib Tanveer with folk artists. He accompanied late Shri. Satyjeet Ray during the making of short film “Satgati” and associated with late Shri J. Swaminathan during creation of Tribal Art Gallery in Bharat Bhawan. He is Member of Sageet Natak Academy, New Delhi from State of Madhya Pradesh Reviving his association with theatre, he is writing weekly column on theatre for last five-six years regularly. He was a Jury Member of Theatre Olympic held first time in India. He was also Jury Member for Bharat Rang Mahotsav organized by National School of Drama for last couple of years. Presently, he is occupied with election analysis, Regularly writing on theatre and actively involved in promoting theatre and folk art across the country. He is currently engaged in writing a book on Contemporary Political History of Madhya Pradesh and Cultured heritage of Madhya Pradesh.
